FACTS ABOUT
The National Environment Act, 2019 defines wetlands as areas permanently or seasonally flooded by water, with plants and animals specifically adapted to this environment. Wetlands are usually located in upland valleys or transitional areas between dry lands and water bodies1 and are characterized by temporary or permanent waterlogged grasslands, swamps, marsh, bogs, papyrus, grassy fens, and fertile floodplains.
Impacts health, environment, and climate; crucial for wellbeing.
Littering is a threat to Uganda’s ecosystems, extending far beyond mere inconvenience.
It destroys habitats, increases carbon emissions, and threatens biodiversity globally.
ESIA is an examination of how a proposed development is expected to affect the environment.
